Active Living

Simple Active Living Guidelines

Some simple guidelines to assist you to lead a more active life include:

  • Think of movement as an opportunity, not an inconvenience.
  • Be active every day in as many ways as you can.
  • For adults, put together at least 30 minutes of moderate physical activity per day on most, preferably all days.
  • For children and youth, aim for at least one hour of moderate intensity physical activity per each day.

Active living is an important part of achieving a healthy lifestyle.

It doesn't take much to gain many benefits from becoming more active. As little as 30 minutes a day can improve your bones and muscles, reduce the risk of illnesses like heart disease, diabetes and colon cancer and increase your overall energy levels. (Victorian Government, 2006).

There are many opportunities to be active every day. This page has been developed to provide a range of resources to assist you, your family and community to be active each and every day - whether it’s through organised programs or recreational activities.
